Aan het einde van de Theems moeten we SB uit voor Queenborough. Op de kaart bevindt zich een ondiepte die we ter hoogte van Nore Swatch kunnen afsnijden. Terwijl de een op de dieptegrafiek kijkt, die 200mtr vooruit kijkt, stuurt de ander en met net voldoende water onder de kiel draaien we Medway Channel in.

Op zoek naar een vrije mooring, zien we de Engelse buren uit Ramsgate liggen. We varen langszij, horen hoe geweldig de Swale was en dat zij nu onderweg zijn naar London. Ons wordt gevraagd hoe de heenreis is verlopen.

We hebben geluk, er is nog een vrije mooring aan de SB-zijde van de rivier. Ik vaar een rondte om de mooring om de diepte te peilen en constateer dat we hier de nacht kunnen doorbrengen zonder vast te lopen. Hoewel het druk met bootje is, liggen we hier heerlijk rustig in de avondzon en genieten van een biertje. Ondertussen maken we de voorbereiding voor de lange tocht van morgen. Bij een ‘weermeisje’ vraag ik per sms een weerbericht op. Kan geen internetverbinding maken. Het bericht dat ik krijg is het volgende:
